In Suwaki, Poland, an abandoned tired dog lay down on freshly dumped tar in search of a warm place to rest.
Unfortunately, the dog was unaware that he was trapped until he began barking for help. Workers nearby heard the dog's loud barks as he begged for assistance.
When they arrived at the scene and discovered the dog, they immediately contacted Joanna Godlewska of the Niczyje Animal Foundation. The brave animal was able to tear his snout out of the tar, allowing him to bark and breathe.
Animal rescuers gradually removed the dog's fur with the assistance of police departments and local fire departments. They eventually succeeded in extracting the dog's body from the tar.
The dog was then taken to the veterinarian for an examination and treatment for exhaustion. Over 100 ticks were extracted from his body.
The dog was given a soft bed and a warm meal after many baths to remove the remaining tar on his fur and paws. Fortunately, the dog began to feel better, and he was also treated for minor head wounds.
Farcik, the adorable dog, is slowly learning to walk and will stay with his rescuers until he is completely healed. He will be available for adoption once he has fully recovered. We hope he heals quickly and finds a forever home.
